Default check engine light "on"

hello,

i was just wondering if any of you guys have experienced in having the check engine light beaming "on" due to the knock sensor? the engine also bogs down whenever your coming down from revving it high and then putting it into neutral and coasting. according to my mechanic, i might have a faulty knock sensor and by replacing this will solve the problem(not too sure). and he also said that vtec will not kick in.

just an overview on my s2k - i recently had some work done on my car - the engine needed to be rebuilt(long story. i added some aftermarket parts to it - dc exhaust and a jdm higher comp. pistons( 11:1 ---> 12:1).

thanks,

ivan

What's the code? Did he interpret the actual code or did he just guess it was the knock sensor?

If the engine needed rebuilding, then the trans had to come out. For the trans to come out, you need a long extension to access the upper starter bolt, which will pass right near the knock sensor. This part is very easily broken with the lightest hit or pressure from the extension.

So yeah, I'll bet that's it if a code for it comes up.

If the DTC is a P0325 it's a knock sensor.

hi,
thanks for the info. they were very helpful .
the dtc code - p0325 - which accounts for a malfunctioning knock sensor. i ordered the part from a&h and it should be coming in by this week. once i replace the part i'll let you guys know the outcome.
thanks,
ivan

Maybe the wiring connector isn't on tightly.

I'm sticking with "broken by mechanic"

hi all,
thanks for all the insights. i finally have my baby in A1 shape. it was the knock sensor - the old sensor was in "pieces" when i replaced it. it was a little bit on "tight spot" but doable from the top or the bottom of the car.
i finally have vtec - nice.
thanks,
ivan
