Default Check Engine light

my check engine light went off today when i was driving, it flashed about 3-4 times, then went out. it just happened tonight, but i was wondering if it has to do with me just going over 60k miles? any thoughts? i was driving about 55mph when it happened and i dont drive my car like crazy either, thanks in advance.

Probably the MRI not the CEL. Oil gets it's own light.
In case it is the MRI.

EDIT: I guess using the same logic (one light mistaken for another), it could just as easily have been the oil light. The oil light will flash due to momentary loss of oil pressure. The MRI will flash at intervals unknown to me, based on mileage, before staying on permanently.

well......
i'd like to think the average person can at least tell a yellow flashing light from a red flashing light.

Since the maintenance light and the CEL are both yellow, its most likely to get them mixed up, especially if you've never seen it on.

In case of it being the maintenance light, it will from now on flash every time you start your car, until it finally stays on, indicating its time for an oil change (thats if it was properly reset at your last oil change).

If it's was your check engine light, then you proceed to the nearest autozone/advance/oreilley and have them check for a code. If it came on, it will store it, no matter if the CEL is still on or not.

good luck.

Do you honestly think someone on the internet can diagnose the issue with these details?
