Take it to AJR if the dealer doesn't help you with it

P1457 will not set with a loose or missing gas cap. A P1456 will.

i got this exact code recently, and yes it's the evap bypass solenoid. my car threw it once right aroudn when my clutch lost its last leg. I did the clutch job at the same time that i ran the code, and since the clutch job meant unhooking the battery and resetting the ecu, i decided to wait to see if it threw the code again once i started the car back up after the clutch job. It hasn't thrown the code since, so i'm hoping it should be okay. I'm assuming that the evap solenoid had something to do with emissions, and i'm figuring that when my clutch disc fell apart (literally one side came detatched), the powder from the material must have gotten sent through the system?

How much was the solenoid btw? I might just replace it to be safe...

it cost around $200 CDN installed here

so about $170 USD or something like that

The bypass solenoid can cause the DTC, but it is not the only possible cause. The evaporative emmisions system is very complex, and difficult to troubleshoot. I wouldn't count on a bypass solenoid fixing every P1457.

The clutch is not attached in any way to the evaporative emmisions system.
