cleaning throttle body
Well i have been a cutting out at the lights victim AND I KNOW all the stuff about letting the car learn and not steeping on the gas (im doing everything fine) but mine is such a pain and i have heard lots of stories about this (cleaning the throttle body) helping a great deal.
so im gonna have a go-
BUT
is there anything i should be careful of AND do i need to disconnect all the pipes coming off the main one to the throttle or can i just undo the jubilee clip at the throttle body because the other pipes have them horrid metal ones which i absolutely hate!! can i cheat like this??
How much should i clean? until it looks new?
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY what might i break (if anything)
all advice is well appreciated!!
THANKYOU
I not sure I totally understand your post but from an overall perspective if you have to clean your throttle body that would mean you have a hole (likely significantly large) in your filter. In which case you have worse problems than a dirty throttle body.
what i would do is just remove the intake hose, spray the tb with tb cleaner (making sure you open the butterfly to clean behind it) to clean it out, replace intake hose and run the engine. you might get some black smoke out the tail pipe though.
right behind the throttle butterfly there should be plenty of carbon. thats normal. when you clean it, it wont become squeeky clean but you can tell, it'll be vastly cleaner then when you started.

fingers crossed-----
CHEERS!

be careful. if you spray in too much cleaner, you could hydrolock your engine. this car can hydrolock with as little as a mere 100cc's of fluid.
that said, cleaning the TB isn't directly solving your problem. if you're getting that much oil blown into the TB then you have a bigger problem. there are cars with 100k+ miles on them that have NEVER cleaned the TB.
the problem you are having can be caused by several things. since you've already tried the "learning ECU" procedure, then try the map sensor whack. if that's not it, try cleaning the IAC motor. if that's not it then you'll possibly have to replace the map sensor and/or the IAC motor.
cleaning the TB is a dangerous way of cleaning the IAC. just don't come back here if you hydrolock the engine, and then say we didn't warn you.
