Default Clicking noise when applying brakes

I keep getting a clicking noise coming from the rear end. It happens when i either back up and apply the brakes or roll foward and touch the brakes.

I dont notice it at highway speeds and it only seems to happen from a stop.

I intially thought it migh be my axle nuts (which i havent ruled out), but i had them retorqued about 5 months ago and ive noticed the sound occasionally after that still.

I recently read that it might be the brakes setting, but i only read that happens once when stopping while backing and then once again while going forward.
I can hear my car click again and again sometimes while going forward, but only if i stop and wait and then slowly move forward and aply brakes.

Only reason i think it might be brake related more than axle nut is it wont happen without the brakes being applied.

Im not the most mechanical person, so please excuse my reasoning if its wrong.

i have the same sound when backing up and applying the brakes. for me it's the rear brake pad shifting in the caliper and not a problem that needs to be addressed. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah it also happens in forward motion, but only at low speed like <5 mph. When i tap the brakes of course.

Seems I remember this with my Vette's. I'm guessing it's the self adjusting brakes. If so, no action required.

Yeah I agree. Also known as pad rock. If it bothers you bad you can try to remoly coat the brake pads and that may help.
