Default Clicking from rear diff.

I have changed my rear diff. fluid with "royal purple 70-90w" about 5k miles ago. Recently I have noticed a clicking noise when I initially put the car in 1st gear and slowly release the clutch,,, same noise goes for when I put her in reverse. The noise goes away after a few clicks. I have searched this topic but have only found post' about this type of noise when other members are turning so I dont think it can be the CV joints. Does anyone else have this problem or know what is causing this??? help would be appreciated. thanks

Is this a "GL-5" rated fluid?
Also, you give no indication the year of your car. You may have the loose hub nut situation for which Honda had a TSB.

I have 03 ap1. The fluid I used was royal purple 75w-90 gear fluid which does say that it is gl-5 rated.

Unless you under-filled the diff, I think that can be ruled out. I'd inspect the cv joints and the axle nuts.

An '03 would still have the old axle nut torque of 181 lb/ft. The revised torque is now 220 lb/ft. Remove, grease and re-torque and see if this fixes it.

Agreed - It's much more likely to be the axle nuts than the diff. I just had them done on my '02 and -voila - no more clicking.
