Default Clicking sounds

I traded my '01 S2000 for an '02, which I've had about a month now. Almost from day one I have had this intermittent clicking sound while driving. It sounds to me like a relay or loose connection under the dash, but the dealer says it is originating where the roof meets the windshield frame. None of us can identify it precisely, and the dealer says there's really nothing that can be done. I know it's not normal - my '01 certainly didn't have it. I'm sure it's not life-threatening, but it sure is annoying. Anyone have any ideas about what this might be?

Thanks.

Jay

I have it too. It's from part of the roof latches that's a sub-assembly piece. When the latches are open, the springs are under different tension, so the part is held fast. With the latches closed, there's some play there. under different road conditions (bumps, undulations, ripples, etc), the latches will rattle a bit. I've learned to ignore it, as there's really nothing that can be done.

Actually, I suppose you could fit a bit of foam rubber under there, and get it to stop, but I'm afraid of what that would do to the latch long-term.

Thanks for the reply. I squirted some silicone lube on the hinge, but that didn't help. I'm sure I can learn to ignore it, but, you know, you want everything "right."

I've got an '00 and the passenger side seatbelt buckle will make nosie when it hits against the passenger door sometimes. To test, just connect the seatbelt and see if the noise goes away.

If you remove the latch (two phillips) and lube the three springs it should help. I also put some weatherstripping type material in the runners of the latch to hold it snug when closed. That also seems to help. I had this horrible squeaking/rattling coming from the passenger side latch for over a year. I finally decided to do something about it this past weekend. And now it is gone
