well with the cooler temperatures it's ok to be notchy for the first little while of driving the car. It shouldnt be notchy after driving until the transmission warms up

You can try other fluids - every transmission is a little different (it's made by Aisin - not Honda). My transmission ('04 AP2 trans) seems to work best with Amsoil MTF - which is a full synthetic - and is a direct replacement fluid for Honda MTF.
As 03_BB_S2K stated - the colder temps are causing your issue more than anything else. The solution for transmissions with that characteristic is to double-clutch the first several shifts from 1-2 and 2-3. You'll get used to it and it'll become second nature very quickly. The colder it gets - the more you'll need to do this. Once the transmission is up to temp - it'll be smooth.

Wrong section and this has been covered ALOT.

I'm running Royal Purple MTF. Over 4k miles and going strong.

Yup same here, with Honda MTF under 15K miles. For me, temperature is the greatest variable on shift quality. If I do a nice run through the gears and stop at a light or something and it heat soaks for 3-4 mins. It shifts like butter afterwards. THATS WITH 147K ON AN 06, still on the stock clutch.

Don't believe everything you hear. One of the biggest things I've learned over the past 4 years of browsing forums, is ALWAYS have your "BS filter" on.

I ran Royal Purple in my H22 for over 30k miles with zero issue's(changed every 3k miles). Now I run it in my MY00(motor, tranny, diff). The motor oil has over 4k miles, it looks great and the motor is strong.

I'd like to try Amsoil but no one sells it locally. Off the shelf, Royal Purple is the best I can get my hands on.

Lol, me too! slipstream444 seams to have had a really bad experience with RP:

Personally, I've never used it and have nothing against it but I would probably never run it b/c there's alternatives that I rather use that are either cheaper or the same price. For my tranny I use OEM Honda!
