Default Clunk/Thump - Rear Diff or CV Joints gone?

Hi guys, here's the deal:

2000 AP1 S2000

Car was running fine, but one diff mount was leaking oil so got it changed. Others were worn but ok.

About a week later, I start hearing and feeling this thump/clunk noise when I put my foot down on the accelerator. The more power, the louder and heavier the thump. Also the faster the wheels are moving the quicker it will occur.

Two more diff mounts are gone so deciding to change em all.. Changed 2 so far waiting for another to arrive from japan (rear passenger side).

Anyway, It's still happening with the mounts. The one that's waiting is slightly cracked but not leaking oil. I'm highly doubting the mounts have anything to do with this. However, quite possibly the weak mounts have caused a failure somewhere else? What else could it be? The diff or cv joints?

I am feeling it's either CV's or Diff, preferably CV's!! But, I don't know how to confirm which one it is. Any hints/tips to find out?

And if it ain't either of those, what else may it be?

Thanks all!

Pull and inspect the cups. If they are pitted reinstall left to right and problem solved. If they aren't, see if you can find some one selling a diff.

Pitted cvs will not cause your clunk, guaranteed.

Might I add the car was lowered by the owner previous to the previous owner. Very likely been lowered for 50k's, sounds like the cups are the likely prob!! I'll change em and find out anyway. Thanks guys

In the process of changing now.. apparently the straps aren't the original ones, which means this may have already been done.

FML. Really hope not. If so, where the hell can I get CV Cups?

Well.. swapping the cups has somewhat fixed the issue. It's significantly less compared to before, but I think it's still there because someone may have done this swap prevoiusly on the car.

I say this only because the strap on the CV was not the OEM strap, but can't be for certain.

Either way, the problems' been located and at least temporarily reduced.. In the meantime I've ordered my spacers and will get them installed. By installing the spacers, should that fix it completely?
