Default Clunk when taking off

My car 01 has 31000 on it and so far has been fairly trouble free. A couple of days I started noticing a clunky noise when taking off from the rear end when taking off from a complete stop.
Usually when I desengage clutch and get on the gas thats when it does it. Like when I back the car up from the garage, and when i the engage first gear it will do it.
Has anybody experience this?
Any help would be appreciated.

My car has a clank/clunk aswell. It only happens wen the car has sat for a good while. I found it is the brake pads clunking back and forth in the caliper. I have heard it isnt uncommon that the little metal clips on the pads wear out and thats what cases it.

Before we all start giving you ideas of what it is or isn't, you need to clarify quite a few things.
When you say "desengage" (ie, disengage), this is when you push the clutch pedal to the floor. Is this what you really mean? Pushing the pedal to the floor and getting on the gas will do nothing but rev the engine. The car doesn't move anywhere.
When you say "when i the engage first gear", this is the physical act of pushing the shift stick into the first gear slot. Is this what you mean?
Please state exactly what it is you are doing to get this "clunk".

Could it be the "old CD in the secret spot" clunk where your stuff shifts in the compartments?

Thanks everybody for the input.
I took my car in for the 30000 miles service and went for a ride with the service guy but the car did not make any clunk after a 6 miles ride. I told them to replace and grease the axle nuts and the noise is gone. It's been over 10 days and still no sign of the clunking noise.
We' ll see.

One man's "click". Another man's "clunk". That's why I find "noise" threads so hard to respond to and why I don't do many anymore.
