The CLUNKS of DOOM
Yes, I have the dreaded rear end clunk again. Low speed corners with the clutch in you can hear the diff groaning and clunking.
Anyone here ever blown a Comptech reinforced differential?

Still doing block long burn-outs are you?
I launch off a 2-step at 6k with a clutch-slip and try not to spin the 265 P-zero M+S tires too bad.I managed to beat a Viper, albeit poorly driven, twice. Hehe.
The only cars I lost to that day were on drag radials or slicks. I beat a '04 Cobra, 98 supercharged Cobra, a ton of other imports turbo and not. None of my losses were particularly bad either. I lost to a drag radial / cammed C5 by only a half car length. ( front of my car was at his front tire )
My S2000 was probably the fastest showing import there. A blue MKIII Supra did alright but I think he lost most of his races due to spinning the whole 1/8th mile.
I have the Viper wins on tape and some other ones, but my mic on the phone cam wasn't working right. I dropped off the camera at an authorized Sony repair shop and can put the videos up as soon as I get the camera back. Man, I was so mad that the mic was broken and I had no idea.

No, this time I had taken my car to the local police-sponsored 1/8th mile drag races.

As for your diff, I see that those wide tires (even M&S P-Zeros) on a "slip clutch" launch would be quite punishing for the equipment, especially if the rear diff was already hot from previous runs. A brief wheel spin, clutch drop launch would be less damaging, however, if the rear diff was very hot already, nothing will save it from an early demise. I believe high diff temp and grenading go hand in hand.
"Sideways" from SoCal has a 440 WHP Vortech car and he has beaten Vipers, too. This is most believeable.
You are a prime candidate for the Nissan rear diff transplant:
