Default Clutch

Honda is currenty working on my transmission and asked me if I wanted to change my clutch disk while they had it apart. They said it shouldn't need one but that if I wanted they wouldn't charge me labor, only parts. The work they are doing is under warrenty so I only have to pay for the disk ($130). Obviusly I'd like to have them replace the flywheel with a light AP1 one and replace the presure plate and bearing but that will cost more then I want to spend (using all honda parts).

Well, I told them to replace just the clutch disk. I know it's cooked because of the dumb CDV and all of those 350Zs, MS3s and mustangs I blew off the line.

Anyway, since it is being replaced will it be okay with the old flywheel and pressure plate? If so, should I do the CDV mod before I burn this new one?

What do you guys think.

If it was me and labor was free, I'd take advantage of that chance to get rid of the weak stock clutch and install a performance one with all new parts. Labor is usually the most expensive part of a clutch swap.

If labor was free, I'd jump on the chance to swap out the parts - AP1 flywheel, ACT PP, OEM disc I think...

well, obviously since you say money is the issue...you don't really have a choice. if money was not an issue, this would be a no brainer.

to answer your question, i believe you need to resurface the flywheel...and the dealership should tell you this. yes, you can re-use the pressure plate.

Instead of resurfacing the flywheel, get a lightweight one.

My 2 cents.
