Default Clutch buzzing..I know I know...

I know xviper already stated that the clutch buzz causes no damage, but it's getting significantly worse. Louder sounds and such. I think its the colder weather kicking in. Anyway, it such a horrible sound and I wanted to know if there was a way to make it go away. Or what exactly is causing the buzz?..i couldn't find the post on it.

Due to the spaces (backlash) in the transmission, a vibration develops that is conveyed forward to the clutch disc springs. Under certain conditions, these springs begin to also vibrate and rattle. It is the springs you hear. You can change the disc to a newer one and this may alleviate the noise for you. However, as many owners have experienced, the noise can come back as the new springs get older. Plus, a clutch job is not cheap.

Tsb 00-054 covers the "clutch buzz" and only applies to 00-01 models.

04's allready have the updated clutch disc that the 00-01's didn't use.

Either you are hypersensitive to the normal and slight decel buzz in every S2k (with the new disc) or your car is making a different noise.

Serious Deja Vu on this one. I used to own a 2002 WRX with a 5 speed, which had a pretty bad decel noise in the clutch if you did not run stock air pressures in the tires. The 205/55R16 on 16x6.5 all around called for 32psi front and 29psi rear. At one point there was a TSB for the decel noise and clutch chatter for the car. If you changed the air pressures to 28psi or less in the front and 32psi or more in the back, the decel noise became seriously obvious. Just thought I would share.

It's hard on the trans on re-engagement, and is not good for overall car control.
