Default Clutch Fluid Leak

Hey guys,

Im currently stuck about a hundred metres outside of my school . Here is the story:

I was driving to school and about 1km from my school I started to get a little play with my clutch. As I continued to drive, it got progressively worse (rapidly but steadily, in other words, no sudden increase in play). As I neared the school I could barely disengage the clutch and I hoped I could at least make it to the parking lot. Unfortunately, about 1 hundred metres from my school, I found that I could no longer disengage the clutch to shift gears.

I opened the hood and found that my CMC fluid reservoir was empty which leads me to believe there is a leak.

Any ideas on the probable location of the leak and whether it can be quickly fixed on the side of the road? ( i have brake fluid on me)

Thanks

**I changed my CMC about 5k km ago and also changed the clutch fluid (I did this because at the time my CMC was leaking).

well, check inside the car to see if it's leaking there (hint, probably not a leak there if it drained that quickly)

check all your torque on the lines to the cmc, and slave. You're going to need to add fluid and get someone to press the pedal to see where the leak is at. Or you may spot the leak just by looking at it.

Unless you've got a set of tools to torque the lines and a jack, probably aren't going to be able to fix it. Perhaps you overtorqued the hardline and twisted/split it.

I had this very same problem 1 week ago. On the drive to work I had the same symptoms as you, and then 1 block from work, couldn't get the car in gear anymore and the clutch had no play at all.

I had to walk to the gas station, buy some dot 3 brake fluid and fill up my empty reservoir. After pumping the clutch for awhile with the now full res, I was able to drive the car to my mechanic before it was already empty again. My leak was inside, under and all over my clutch pedal. I had to get a new Clutch Master and slave Cylinder, and I'm assuming you'll need the same.

G'luck

95% of CMCs leak.

The fluid leaks out under the dash into the carpet.

The fluid must be changed frequently, or it will always be a problem. Even a leaky master will STOP leaking if the fluid is kept clean.
