From: was in Boston; now in LA
Default Clutch pedal feel issues

some background: my car has 43K mi, I drive agressively and in LA traffic, I like to drive in canyons, and I have autocrossed a few times; this is my 2nd stick car. I have launched it a few times, and it grinds 2nd sometimes.

the issue: a week ago i started the car, and the clutch pedal felt weird. it felt "dead" and VERY soft at the very top (it just depressed very easily) for 3inches; then it feels a bit harder than normal, past that point. i basicaly have a tiny friction zone now (near the floor, 2 inches or so)- the clutch turned into a on/off switch. the car is not fun to drive now. it does not slip, as far as I understand. what is wrong?
normaly my pedal has just a bit of play, followed by an even effort/friction zone to the floor.

note: stuff like this has happened before... the pedal would feel weird for a week or 2, and then it just would go back to normal BY IT SELF... i am baffled... who understands this?
i am running that Valvoline fluid

i am not high - it fixed itself a few times, I AM SERIOUS

Clutch Master Cylinder off the top of my head. I had to replace mine about a year back (probably had ~ 100K miles at that time on The Bruised Banana). Not saying that is your problem...but it might prove a good first diagnosis for a Honda mech...

I think you just need to adjust the solenoid on top of the clutch pedal and tighten it up. Mulder showed me this the other day.

Check the SLAVE. Mine went out at 58K on an '03. There was a slight drip that went down and ran along the hose. If the engagement point is LOW and its hard to put in gear, that might be it.

good luck.

yeah sounds like your clutch hydraulic system. I'm on my 3rd master the s2k clutch master seems to be fairly shite but i guess aggressive/hard driving will wear it out quicker. Good idea to replace your master and slave at the same time so you dont waste time replacing master only to realise the slave is stuffed too. They dont cost all that much, around $300aud should get you both parts.

After you do this and its still playing up, its new clutch time. Most drivers wear their clutch out between 80-100,000 kms if they are driving it hard.
