Default Clutch pedal feels rough/notchy

So, a few days ago my clutch pedal started feeling strange. I did a search for my symptoms but couldn't find a straight answer. Some people say master cylinder, some say clutch disk, some say throwout bearing.

The symptoms are basically this: when starting up the car and driving around for a few minutes, the clutch pedal feels normal (smooth). After the engine and trans have warmed up, the clutch pedal starts feeling rough/notchy.

As I begin to press the pedal, it feels like the top third of the pedal's travel is rough or "bumpy" (best way I can describe it, lol). The bottom two thirds of the travel is smooth, and coming back up feels smooth as well.

I looked at my master cylinder; there are no visible leaks, and the fluid level is still at max. The fluid is pretty dirty, but I hear this is normal. I've never flushed the clutch fluid, though the previous owner may have. I'm planning on replacing my clutch disk/PP/bearings in about 2 weeks, since the clutch is very noisy/buzzy and beginning to slip a little.

Any theories on what this might be? Will replacing my clutch/PP/bearings most likely fix it? Thanks

probly not master cylinder... different symptoms in my experience, the clutch disk would be my guess, since it has issues with the going down, or disengaging, but i could be wrong. had a similar problem with my friends 300zx, turned out to be his clutch disk, and the little bearing between the shifter and where it mounts to transmition was wearing out (nothin to do with clutch, just had a TONNN of play in it)... hopefully some one who knows more can hop in on this

Hmm... it's not really sticking at all though. I suppose it couldn't hurt to try, and I was planning to buy some of the Honda Super-High-Temp grease for my shifter anyway. Thanks for the tip about the piston!

I read up a little more, and it sounds like it might be something related to the clutch or bearings, since it only happens when the clutch is warmed up.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Check out this thread as well...I did the "nipple" polish and lube and problem still persisted...so this was the final fix for me: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=441210&st=0

bleed your clutch fluid and put some new fluid in. Also resurface clutch slave rod and regrease where the rod goes into the trans. Also regrease your shifter while your at it. Search and you will find DIY's on here.
