Clutch Problem
Hey guys. Another post about the weird clutch in my AP2. Car is a 2007 with 19k miles. It was in imaculate condition until last night when some punk decided to key the entire car. So long story short - it's going to be out of commission and I'm considering doing the clutch while I'm at it.
Symptoms: have been progressively getting worse over the last ~500 miles.
-vibration at the top of throw of clutch pedal when shifting (intermittent) worse when lightly slipping clutch on takeoff. normally not noticeable on upshifts and more noticeable if rev matches are not perfect.
-if in dear and decellerating, when you go to touch the pedal very lightly and take out all free play, you can feel a very high frequency/engine and tranny speed buzzing/vibration. I'm essentially getting a lot of feel through the pedal. GETS MUCH WORSE AS THE CAR WARMS UP. Normally it's not noticeable at startup (but gets worse faster as it progresses).
-this is new: at a dead stop in neutral, push clutch all the way in. When letting it out slowly, you can feel a light tapping through the pedal. If you hold it at that spot consistently, it dies away.
-at higher speeds (~50-60) at constant throttle so the exhaust is quiet, you can hear a very quite high pitch whistle/whine. This might not be related. Bearing whine maybe?
-shifting is getting notchy-er (maybe a problem with disengagement?)
IT IS NOT A THRUST BEARING SYMPTOM. I'VE MEASURED THE THRUST WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD AND ITS FINE - WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM, YOU CANNOT MOVE THE CRANK AXIALLY AND HAS NO PLAY. Also, if you clutch-in, the engine RPMS don't dip like those with crank walk. The engine sounds better with the pedal in. If you barely blip the throttle at idle with the clutch pedal in, the engine sounds healthy. If the clutch pedal is out, and you barely blip the throttle, there seems to be an odd noise.
I'm thinking this could be a spring backing its way out or something broken on the hub? maybe pp or fly? either way, if i'm doing a clutch job, i'm swapping everything in there. Maybe just some failure? The previous owner rode the clutch badly? Could it be the input shaft maybe?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME READING THIS. I KNOW ITS A LOT BUT THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE.

There have been a few cases related to the release hanger for the clutch fork giving out. Similar symptoms to throwout bearing failure, like mine. However, throwout bearing would be opposite in the sense that pressed in, there would be sounds.
Anyways...suck about the keying for real man..I don't get what's wrong with some people in the world. Make me not want to be human sometimes haha
My money is on the fork as well...but anywho..goodluck!
(try searching clutch fork and compare symptoms)
