Eventually I'll upgrade the clutch pressure plate. I may "upgrade" at the same time to the older style clutch cylinder...

That's an interesting way to protect the differential. I wonder why they didn't just make it strong enough to handle the torque the car produces

Its cheaper replace a slave cylinder/clutch than it is to go back to the drawing board to stiffen the rear end. THe new-found strength could tear the transmission to pieces, so then they would have to beef that up.
THe solution? Weaken the clutch, delay the slave cylinder so clutch damage is delayed JUST long enough to get out of warranty

I've swapped my slave cylinder, but it was really too late for my clutch. The solution is an ACT or other pressure plate... I did that with a new stock disk and a comptech flywheel and LOVE it.

Gernby is correct except for one small detail - it's the slave cylinder.

Oh, and the slave cylinder is going in this Friday. I'm not too worried about my clutch right now since there's no slipping once it's fully engaged - but the shift itself is horrible. Hardtopguy has a Comptech flywheel / ACT pressure plate / stock friction disk combo for $899. If things get bad enough, I might have to do that.

I'll try to get some good pictures of the procedure.

why are you guys going with a stock disk? if I'm going to go through all the effort of replacing the PP and FW with aftermarket parts I would definitely put in an aftermarket clutch that grips better.

why increase engagement harshness and go with an untested disk, when the stock one holds enough?

I find engagement is already pretty abrupt with the s2000, and I've had marcel springs pop out of too many "bulletproof" aftermarket clutch disks.

Why was it too late for the clutch? How many miles did you have on it when it was replaced?

I had 8k miles on it and swapping the slave didn't make a huge difference on mine. clutch still slipped, suspect due to glazing. (although the disk looked fine when I took it out of the car)
