Default CMC change

Hi All;

Had noticed my CMC leaking, so I decided to change it. Ordered OEM part and had begin to replace it, easy as it looks, only removal of a couple bolts, a clip and loosening a few others...

I made sure it went back the same as the old one (in terms of adjustment of rod length etc) hooked it all back up and decided to bleed the clutch..

When I went to pump the pedal, it won't come back up and just get's sprung into the firewall.... Am I missing something? Did I do something wrong?

Any suggestions on how to fix it? I'm sure it's probably just a bleeding thing but I thought I'd ask the question before going back into the ever-so-spacious foot well and calling it home for another hours....

Thanks,

Peace.

You gotta bench bleed it. Loosen the line connection to the master cylinder, and pump the pedal until fluid is leaking out, then tighten it back up and proceed to bleed as regular.

Legend. Will give it a go tomorrow.. Is there any reason that this needs to be done? Because when I bleed it as per norm, it still gets the fluid from the reservoir through out to the slave bleeder nipple...

Make sure you take a garden hose and wash the engine compartment of any brake fluid.

If you dont, the brake fluid will strip the paint to bare metal, and you'll start rusting away and never stop it.

Water completely disolves brake fluid. When you spray brake fluid with water, it turns white. so spray until the white goes away and your safe

when replacing the CMC make sure you get the pump primed in order for the bleed to even begin....it may take a while. I used a minature turkey baster type thing to shoot fluid into the tiny hole at the bottom of the CMC. AND DEFF DO wat billman said about washing the fluid away, it is NASTY stuff !
