Coil Packs

Default Coil Packs

How do you know if your coil packs are no good anymore, cause when i take mine out they rattle... is that normal???

I have never shaken one to see if it rattles but I wouldn't think this is normal. However, if one of them was busted, I think you would get a Check Engine Light and the car wouldn't run so good.

mine rattles too, it is normal, there is a spring inside but becareful and don't drop them, you'll know when a coil pack goes bad, you're car will start to drive like those VW's with the 1.8T motors in them with busted coil packs galore.

not only the 1.8T, but the vr6's aswell. You'll know if they're bad, your car will misfire and hesitate like crazy. Also, you can take a water bottle and spray water near them and watch the sparks fly!
