Coilovers:ride height independent fromShock travel
What are they? Tein Flex? and any others?
Also, how do they work? Can you adjust the shock body length? The old posts indicate the shock travel in S is pretty short. Does the bottoming happen frequently?

with tein flex it uses a triple perche setup as opposed to normal true coilovers with double perch setup
triple perch meaning you can adjust preload and ride height seperately.
when it comes to double perch by lowering ride height u automatically increase preload. you can set the shock travel at maximum with a minimal ride height that this will mean you get a softer ride at a lowere level or.. preload max at regular ride height meaning u will ride very stiff at a higer height
ive never driven on flex w/ a ap1 but i have flex w/ edfc on my es1 civic and i must say i love it. takes quite awhile to adjust ur preferences but once you get ir right. you simply fall in love with it.
hopefully this answers your questions.

The springs are linear(not progressive), aren't they? Either more preload or less preload, the stiffness should be the same unless the shock bottom out...I think?
so to have max travel, what can I do? Loosen the third(lowest) perch and turn the body(threaded part) down?
What are the other coilovers which have this independence?
Thanks.

to have max travel you would raise the top 2 perches in reference to the shock..
always set preload first then adjust bottom perch for ride height
top 2=preload (further the shock is down into the body the less shock travel=more preload)
the further the shock is out of shock=more travel =more preload)
it all happens this way because of how the shock is setup and valving. but dont worry about it
set preload...
set height
set damper in that order to get desired setting out of all 3
