I'm not holding it against you. Stick with a cone filter on a pipe...

Good idea, and also if we need to improvise a heater we can re-route the exhaust into the cabin of the car

I have seen people doing many different things to try and get colder air, like keeping bags of ice at the track. and resting it on the intake before runs. I guess every little bit helps

Actually, this idea comes up every now and then (amazing, ain't it? ).
In theory, it's not that bad an idea. In practice, it's a whole lot of work that would still have some drawbacks. The A/C is basically an heat exchanger that is installed in the HVAC system of our cars. It's mounted in series with the heater core under the dash. You could just dismantle the HVAC airbox, remove the A/C heater core, mount is someplace in a modified aircleaner box and re-route the A/C lines to it. You wouldn't even need a fan in there as the engine will draw air through it. Since we all know that at WOT, the A/C compressor clutch dis-engages, this would not even become a parasitic draw when you want "go-power".
Now, the biggest question is: Can this heater exchanger keep up with air that could be as hot as 20 to 30 degrees above ambient when it's going through the airbox at a rate of around 2 liters every couple of revs and 9000 revs per minute?
And another very important question: Do you really want to destroy your HVAC system like this when a good CAI will do?

Nitrous will instantly cool the intake air.
