OUCH!!!

Sorry to see that, Nick.

I know how much it can hurt to see your pride and joy busted up.

It is incredible, but the majority of S2000 owners that I know, or talk to, have had at least one trip to the body shop, so don't feel alone.

I've learned a lot about repairing the S2000, and the body repair business, after going through all of this with my car.

Let me know if there is any way I can help.

Best of luck with your repairs.

Exactly what kind of paint defects you're talking about?
I found a couple of paint chips and scratches. From certain angles the two holes in the front bumper cover are still visible. There is a small defect in the passenger's door handle, and the hood support rod is scratched at the bottom. The support rod grommet wasn't changed, and the rod is loose, and is scraping on the inner fender edge. There is also a straight line paint defect which runs parallel to a seam in the fender, near the headlight. It may not be fixed, because I think the entire fender would need to be repainted.

Most of these are minor defects, but I am paying a lot of cash for the job, so I want the best work I can get. After I got the car back, the first time, I took it out to a run and everyone liked the new look. No one noticed any defects in the paint, but they did notice the defects in the hood. The body shop couldn't even find the scratch I complained about in the trunk lid. It is only visible when the sun hits it just right (even though it's about six inches long!), so I had to go there and show them.

There are also numerous rock chips in the clear coat, and some that go all the way down to the plastic in the bumper, and the metal of the fender (probably from the run). I'm lucky that the bumper cover is being repainted, due to the defects, but I may have to live with the chips in the fenders. I'm thinking about getting the clear bra installed, but I would like to see an S2000 with it on, first. If anyone in the L.A. area has it, please let me know, so I can check it out. I don't think the clear bra will be enough to protect the car in the canyons, so a Colgan bra still might be necessary.

There are lots of other details, which I will post later.

I just got back from seeing the car, and this repair may be going downhill fast!

The repaint of the front bumper cover looks terrible, but maybe it's not finished yet. I don't want to say too much about it yet, because I haven't even talked to anyone at the shop.

I was so angry, I got out of there quick. If I lose my cool, things could get really ugly.

I'll call and find out what's up, as soon as I can cool down. I didn't even look at the rest of the car.

Sorry to hear about that.

Be sure to check the paint match in different kinds of light. I found out it's pretty tough to match these metallic paints. The paint might need to be blended, to look right.

Good luck with your repair!

What exactly have you heard about the Colgan bra? I bought one from another member several months, and although I only use it for highway trips, I haven't seen any paint damage so far. Are you more concerned about damage from longterm/daily use?
