the wet test should only be used if you have a low cylinder or cylinders. if you add a few drops of oil and the previously low cylinder goes up you have a problem

even with a dry test the engine should be warm correct? theres still no difference there?

Will it matter if the engine is hot or not? I have a knocking niose coming from my engine so I dont think it would be a good idea to run the engine until I know what it is. But I do want to check the compression to hopefully rule out a scored cylinder.
