Yes, it's the same box. Guys have been known to get a credit for the S/C airbox when they already had the CAI.

I just went to the K&N web site, and they dont show any 5.5 inch inside diamenter cone type air filters. If you have the comptek icebox, try a afe filter instead. look up there web site and use there search tool. you want a modified stack, and the 5 inch long cone filter. hopes this helps, drive safe

You can fit a K&N RF-1048 even though it has a 1/2" larger inner diameter. I made it work by clamping the filter around the RIM of the intake tube. It worked perfect and is sealed tight. You just have to slide the intake tube from the inside of the box out the hole. And voila! You have a K&N filter in your comptech box! The lid closes barely, but safely, by the way!

My comptech foam filter has 150,000 miles on it. It may be about time to change it out. Thanx for the K&N part number. I've been wanting to swap it out. BTW I'm up to 239k + miles now!!!

FYI you can buy AFE part #24-55505 as a direct drop-in replacement for the Comptech foam filter. I just got one and it fits in my supercharger airbox with no problems. It is a bit shorter than the K&N pictured above. Amazon has one more in-stock for $45, free shipping.

I bought the aFe 21-55505 filter to replace the foam filter. I was never a fan of the foam filter in the first place and it was time to replace it. The difference was immediately noticeable from a performance standpoint. Just as with the 24-55505, the filter fits perfectly. Equally important to me was the fact the 21-55505 does not require any oiling. The filter is completely washable as well, and the synthetic media is a huge improvement over the oiled foam filter. I spoke with aFe technical service and they informed me this filter is good for just under 900cfm, which is significantly higher flow than the foam filter. I don't think there's a street driven S2000 that demands anywhere near that flow. A N/A S2000 with intake, full exhaust can pull about 340 cfm, a turbo or supercharger setup good for about 350 whp can pull upwards of 550-600 cfm. Nevertheless, it completely eliminates the filter element as the major source of intake restriction. Additionally, this filter design has significantly more surface area compared to the foam filter, which helps keep high levels of performance for significantly longer than the foam filter. Another aFe alternative is the aFe 24-99999 (in their pro-R media) that has the inverted top. Once again, that filter requires oiling. Additionally, the top diameter is a little larger at 5 1/2" instead of 4 and 3/4, which makes it a much tighter fit. The open (inverted) top may give a little more flow from behind the headlight, but being all of these filters flow near 900cfm, I don't know if that would provide a performance advantage - especially at nearly twice the cost. Amazon has the 21-55505 at around $45 as well.
