Default Convertible top lock handle problem.

I gave up wading through 900 newbie questions about how to latch the top...

On the convertible top lock handles (the two things that latch the top to the windshield frame), there are two small machine screws that hold the release button down. Two of mine apparently came loose at some point and fell out. I need to figure out what size screws these are so I can replace them without buying an entire new lock handle assembly.

- I belive they're M2.5-0.45 x 5mm, but they could be a bit longer or shorter, or an M2, M2.6, M3... I haven't found anyone locally that has a way to measure accurately (other than calipers which are iffy in this size range).
- These screws are not listed in the Helm manual. Page 20-47 has the only info about the lock handle.

Any idea?

Car has four total? I lost one, but luckily found it later in the car (check for one).

If you can check the other side of the car, then take one out and bring it to an industrial supplier. I can't think of a better description of the type of business I'm thinking of. Usually consumers don't go there, but are welcome to...I don't know.

Good luck.

Are these screws easy to remove? if so, I could remove one and measure its details in the comparator we use to measure chamfers and such.

Yup, this is best. Helm manual shows the screws but doesn't define them. Be aware that there are two screws on each side, and the front one is different than the rear one. Be sure to use the appropriate one from the other side as your reference.

I actually took one from the passenger side out and put it in the driver side for hte time being.

I took it to Fastenal and they said they don't carry anything that small in the store, or have any way to measure it.

I read the first post and missed it. How big is it? I don't really need drawings, just the size.

Those are the two screws that attach the lock handle to the convertible top frame. The screws I need are retaining screws for the release button.
