converting passenger window to one-touch........
has anyone done this?
or thought of doing this??
is it possible to do this???
if so, what would be involved????
i "envision" it as follows:
1. purchase 2 more driver's window switches (they say AUTO on them) and 2 more driver's side window regulators.
2. replace passenger side "standard" regulator with driver's side type regulator and replace passenger side "standard" window switch with driver's side type window switch.
3. replace driver's side passenger window "standard" regulator with another driver's side type window regulator and replace "standard" driver's side passenger window type window switch with driver's side type window switch.
sounds easy enough, but are the wiring harnesses "plug and play", to be able to do this??

Man, on all the cars I have had in the last 10 years or so, I have wanted auto-down on ALL the freaking windows! Why on God's green earth don't all switches do this???
BMW's do. My dad's 4Runner does it. And the BMWs actually have auto-up, as well.
I 'envision' it to be the same as you describe. I might be interested in it, but I rarely roll the window down, since it goes down by itself when I put the top down. And I never drive it with the top up.
Your approach sounds correct though...I'll be interested in seeing how it goes.

we have ghetto power windows no doubt. The power locks aint much to write about either. I envy the windows in my wife's BMW. Auto up and down on all four and the sunroof plus you can open or close them all with the remote. The controls are in the center console and easy to reach too.
Better check the helm manual for the window circuit. Many times the logic relay is hidden in an ECU box, no easy mod.
My 15 year old Accord's auto-down still works. I've had two new Hondas in the last year that both quit auto-down.
If you could find a permanent fix for the driver's side, I know a lot of drivers that would thank you...

I did some research. The driver's side window and passenger's side window are handled COMPLETELY different. They use different sensing techniques, inputs, and even different controllers (Driver's=Power Window Control Unit, Passengers=Convertible Top Control Unit)
Unless you could make two logic control units that would replace these two circuits with your new program, the conversion is unfortunately hopeless.
