Default Coolant Overflow Problem

Hey guys,

Im lost on what’s happening with my car. I’ve been getting coolant overflow from my reservoir after a drive. I’ve bled the system many times but everytime I bleed it again, there’s always a small amount of air in the system. The car doesn’t over heat and my temps stay around 170-190. My heater gets hot after bleeding but after a couple days, it gets cold again. The lower radiator hose gets warm but not as hot as the top hose. I see no coolant leaks anywhere.

I’m suspecting it’s either head gasket or thermostat.

Another problem i’ve been having was when I was bleeding my system with a no leak funnel, it would leak out from where the cap attatches to the radiator. Same thing happened with a coolant pressure tester, the coolant would leak from the cap attatches to the radiator.

Any Ideas?

New radiator cap is maybe $15 at any Honda dealer. Not exactly firing the parts cannon and yields instant diagnostic results. Replacement radiators are available and there are videos here on how to install one.

An oil analysis will show if there's antifreeze, fuel, or water in the engine oil. Get the free sample bottle from Blackstone Labs.. Results will either be reassuring or terrifying! Money well spent regardless.

Thanks Chuck

Just pressure tested my car this morning and turns out my Evolve Radiator neck where the cap sits has a small leak. I put the tester on my radiator and it would just leak coolant out from the cap. When I put the test on my coolant swirl pot, any pressure (even slight touches to the radiator cap) would leak air and push out coolant.

Im assuming it’s time for a new radiator since the cap and the pressure tester doesn’t sit properly on the radiator neck.

Good news that it's not leaking antifreeze into the engine block! I still recommend an engine oil analysis.

Should be solid recommendations on a replacement radiator here on the forum.
