is it okay to mix the green and the blue? Does a 7 year old car need a flush or can I just add it?

Early type II coolant was green. The coolant delivered in a 02 would be green or blue depending when the car was built. The car still has type II no matter what color it is.
was just gonna say the factory fill type II coolant on earlier model years was green, so if you have my01 or newer you can mix the blue and green doesn't matter both are type II.

so whats the advantage of flushing it versus just topping off? Car is 2002 with 30500 miles.

Billman looked at my coolant and said it didn't need a flush or a change a few weeks ago... I'd assume if its the same coolant then it would be okay to just add the blue to the green and no need to flush it which seems like a hassle. Any thoughts before I do it?

If it's the same fluid, I see no reason to flush. The first scheduled flush it at 100K miles or so.

Not enough reason to change it early.
