Any major brand 50/50 thats aluminum friendly should be fine. I know Honda is kind of specific when recommending its own product but I think they are taking a universal view point here. In other parts of the world, what exactly would be available? Maybe some rather inferior unknown brands that should be avoided by all makes if possible. If there's a Honda dealer in Kabul Afganistan for instance, the correct anti-freeze is always available.

What JackS said.. while I use typeII and change every 5 years on my AP1, aluminum friendly fluids from other brands should be ok.

I would recommend a full flush before switching from type I (green) to type II (blue) in an Ap1 though.

I put PEAK in.

I just replaced my radiator with a fullblown racing radiator. I picked up the radiator from fullblown myself and I asked what coolant to use. They said it didn't matter and I could get what ever I wanted from the auto store. I bought peak because it was on sale and didn't want to spend twice as much on the honda stuff. I had been wondering what to use myself with all the misinformation. But I got that from the horses mouth.

I've had long time experience with many coolants.

Dex-cool is abosolute garbage, that is an undeniable fact. Ask anyone who has worked in the field for over 20 years.

Honda type2 blue is by far the best coolant I have ever worked with. It will stay completey spotless even after 10 years in operation.

Ray, get the blue stuff man...trust me. Leave it in for 5 years, as opposed to other garbage you'll need to drain in 2 years. there's your money back.

When I have to change mine I'll go with Evans waterless coolant.

In FL you could probably get by with a little bit of distilled water to top it off. It's not like you're going to be seeing -20° weather.

What's the big deal with paying an extra $10 or so a gallon for coolant that you only have to change every 5-10 years? Just use the recommended Honda blue coolant that is known to do a great job of protecting the vital cooling system on your s2000.
