bought this engine on ebay and its got some problems. main bearings are shot. I am going to pull the engine out of the car again and replace them. as well as the rod bearings while im at it. I have an AP1 and I have a 2.2l crank in my garage that I am thinking of swaping on as well. will this work? does that increase my displacement 200cc +? anything else I should switch out while the block is upside down and getting some work down. I have some horrible knocking sound and there were metal (gold) colored shavings and the bottom of the oil pan so I think I should replace everything I can without taking the head off. I know the head is fine as well as the seals on it, just the valves clearance need to be adjusted. I have half the oil pressure that I should and a couple mechanics think its the main bearings for sure. any input on this would be great from the gurus of engines. im learning alot by doing all this work.

You'll need new rods too. The 2.2 crank has a longer throw. With stock rods the pistons would rise above the deck of the block and hit the head.

I'd be real wary of the gold flakes. Sounds like the cylinders are junk.
