Crazy oil comsumption. One "X" every 100 mile.
Just a few suggestions,
When you check your oil, make sure that you are consistent. For example, check it when the car has been sitting for a while or when you just shut off the car. The former is prefered. Then compare the oil consumption with the oil catch tank as well. I doubt that the car would use that much oil. My car hardly consumes any every 2000 to 2500 miles on each oil change.

There are 5 X's on the dip stick. From the top of the first X to the bottom of the last X, it's about one US quart.
And you are not alone. I know several people who switched to syn oil noticed the oil consumption had increased. It seems like it's the nature of this engine.

also, it seems that the first x or two are the quickest to go down, dont get stressed over this and keep topping up, but rather monitor it closely and see if it keeps going down in the same amount of time/fashion.
