Default Cross threaded Into the block

Hello I’m looking for advice on a mistake I made. Today I was installing my new TCT and one of the bolts kept spinning. After I realized something was wrong I took the bolt out and saw threads/shavings from inside the block. I don’t really know how to go about this can someone help.

While you are at it, use the new OEM TCT as a core and send it to Billman for one of his improved TCTs.

Need more info

Was your bolt too short? This couldn't happen via over torque because you'd break the bolt before messing up the thread.

Did it ever get tight?

My guess is you used a bolt which was too short or too long.

The solution to your problem depends on how this happened.

Stripped threads in aluminum blocks are common enough that this should be repairable.

TCT bolts only require 8.7 lbf-ft torque. Trying to force a too-long steel bolt into a too-short hole in an aluminum block can easily strip the threads in the block when the bolt reaches the bottom of the hole and keeps turning.. For example Billman's TCT has a thinner flange (so overall depth of the hole is shallower) and comes with shorter bolts to prevent this.

PM me your cell number.

Which bolt, front or back?

For the record, you are over tightening the bolts by 3X more than needed.
