Default cruise control

Here's one. Would not have expected cruise control on an s2k but it can be good on a trip. Problem is mine keeps speed reasonably well on flat ground and even going up inclines but keeps accelerating going down hill. i set it on 65mph it it was doing just fine but after cresting a long incline i looked down and was doing 80mph and still going up until i cancelled it.
any ideas or similar experiences?
Thanks

How steep was the downhill? All the cruise control can do is let off the gas on the downhill, it can't apply the brakes to slow you down. If its steep enough to overcome the engine decel, then you will gain speed, but once the road flattens out it should slow down to the speed you have it set to.

thanks for your reply. The downhill was not very steep and i was so far over the speed limit with it still speeding up that i tapped the brakes and slowed down. This happened several times on that outing. i have not tried it again but will next sunny, dry day.
Also my05 was the last throtle cable unit no drive by wire until my06 and i can not feel the accel pedal let up while descending, it stays down long after it should let up. Thanks again for the thoughts.
attaching a pic of me preparing to exceed the land speed record (in my driveway) ha

With DBW you pedal will not move, as it is not linked to the throttle mechanically. Your ECM controls throttle position independantly. Without cruise control on in the same gear, does you car accelerate the same way down the hill?
