I researched my s2000 for months before I actually purchased it, and I know there is ample amounts of aftermarket parts...but

does anyone actually have an idea of which exhaust system makes the most power of all available?

The way I've always looked at exhaust systems with previous cars is: do it only the right way, complete(header back), if I do it at all. I definitely believe that the sound is important, but there is no way I'd spend b/t 1 to 3 thousand on an exhaust system if it wasn't completely worth it.

You can't go wrong with Mugan, but it will cost you $1500. HKS are also nice. And if you feel like spending $2200, then Amuse has 8lb exhaust system. (very loud though)

Yes, the stock exhaust is quite heavy. Just changing to a lighter exhaust will add accelerative "power".

The weight savings from stock to Mugen is the same weight savings Chevrolet advertises they got in developing the Z06 exhaust from the usual Corvette exhaust. Percent wise, the S2K owner gets even more benefit from such a weight savings as the Z06, but Chev felt compelled to mention how obsessed they were in Z06 performance to get even this 12lb weight loss among other things mentioned in their mag ad.

The stock exhaust is also heavy enough to affect cornering power, imo. I was able to take certain tight turns about 2mph faster after switching to the Mugen.

Add weight savings to dyno gain, and I think there may be enough performance gain to seriously consider a switch to any lighter proven exhaust.

Is there any dynometer gain?

Barry, I think the KingMotorSports site has the printout of the dyno gain, but that is with both header and exhaust I seem to recall. Might want to check it out.

Happy Easter today!

Thanks, Prolene.

It looks to me like four foot pounds of torque at the peak, but a nice improvement in the smoothness of the torque curve.

It's hard to make more than a couple of ponies out of this dyno, but the torque gain is more impressive.

I bet that the mugen exhaust header and exhaust smooth out the torque curve enough to make it harder to sense the transition to the high rpm cams.

It should be interesting to see dyno figures for the MG Racing stuff(header and exhaust)... from what I understand, the pricing should be pretty low on these as well correct?
