Curious about oil burning...
I was just curious about this. I was looking at a thread in the Mid-A that gave me this idea. I have noticed more and more that AP1s are more prone to burning oil. I just want to see how wide spread this problem really is. Also for those that do post, what model and how many miles if you are burning or not and what kind of oil you are using.
Mine: 04 AP2 w/ 129,xxx w/ zero oil burning issues. I do not use synthetic oil. I typically use a high mileage oil or Castrol GTX 10-40W.

Yeah, it's been acknowledged years ago, that the AP1s are much more prone to burning oil. From research, it seems to be routed to the PCV system and the way the blocks are honed from the factory.
I did notice in my old AP1, that I burned A LOT more with synthetic, mainly Mobil 1. Even with my current 06 @ 45k miles, I probably burned almost 1/4 quart between changes with Mobil 1. But now with Castrol Edge, it burns almost nothing(maybe a drop).
An AP1 supplied with Mobil 1, can make for some crazy oil usage. I think Honda even states with the AP1, that a quart used every 1k miles is within limits.

I have a '06 and I use Mobil 1 oil(3 1/2 qt. 5/30)&(2 1/2 qt. 10/40 motorcycle oil) and I don't use more than 1/4 qt.(if that) in 5000 miles.
Have put 14.5k miles on this car in the last 5 months.
Edit for more info
I bought the car Oct.29 '10 with 20,142 miles and it now has almost 35k miles on her.

my ap1 02 65k miles
burned 4 quarts in 3500 miles with mobile one... i was like wtf?
i check my oil regularly (every other time i fill up)
but its hard to tell when the engine is warm so i always thought i was in the good.
so i switched to castorl edge and it seems good so far,
i gas it every once in a while and it seems that castrol holds up good and doesnt burn.

AP2, zero oil consumption. Like stated above, its an F20 thing, and stopped in 2004 when Honda came out with the revised engine.
Also, around here it seems Mobil 1 burns more than any other oil in an S engine.
