Haha I finaly got the motor back together with the 2 mm headgasket. When i upped the boost to 16 psi the car is now having major blow by issues. Dipstick popped out on my first couple of high boost runs. And oil squirted all over the underside of my hood. I guess a compression check is in order.

that looks like you had detonation. when i took one of my old engines i was rebuilding to the machine shop they told me that it looked like my motor had some detonating. it left marks just like that on the cylinder wall and piston with a dark black spot by the scratches.

My psychic diagnosis is broken ring lands from detonation.

The scoring marks are where the fragments of the ring land is floating around.

The ring land is the part of the piston between the rings. If you get bad detonation they break away from the piston and dance around between the top and middle rings. Extreme blowby is another symptom.

I would put some +0.25mm factory F22 pistons which will be compatible with the bores and lower the compression. You will need the block honed to this oversize by someone with a diamond honing machine.

Chris.

I use the GM coolant. Its made for their LS blocks (alum) so it should be fine. I asked the parts guy for my local dealer 'why is it special' he said 'IDK'. anyway, let us know how the engine runs! I'm worried now..maybe I'll do that oil-squirter mod/fix.
If you are using GM DexCool in your Honda, you need to get it out of there. Here is a good article about coolants that will explain:

Well It could have been detonation, because after installing my turbo kit, my wastegate malfunctioned and the car over boosted to 20 psi, this was about a year ago. And I definitely heard some loud ass detonation for about 2 seconds. But I dont think the ring lands are damaged. I think the loose peices would be making some hideous noises. Regardless of the scoring the car is making great power right now. Im still working on the tune though. When I got on the freeway today I short shifted to second under boost and spun the tires in second all the way up the freeway on ramp . Car feels mean at 16.5 psi, I need to dyno this thing though.

Put that 2mm on, and get a leakdown test. It'll tell ya if you're good for now or not.

Get a leakdown test first and if you are loosing a lot of pressure into the crankcase there is definately something fishy in the ring area.

You dont hear a cracked ring land as the pieces are packed in really tight. The longer you drive in that condition the more bore damage is going to accumulate. A leakdown test is quick and easy to do.

Sure it may be pulling like a mule, but it could be going even harder if there wasnt a blowby problem. If its pushing the dip stick out thats too much crankcase pressure.

You need compressed air.

Well its finally starting to happen, im getting white smoke puffs under high boost and high rpm. No smoke at idle or under normal driving. But at about vtec while under boost I notice a little white smoke and about 1 second after I let off the throttle I get a nice puff of smoke. I still havent done a compression check yet, im sure im very low in at least 2 cylinders do to the scoring.
