Dark Smoke !

Unhappy Dark Smoke !

Has anyone ever had darker smoke coming from their exhaust .. we were driving yesterday (well he was driving and i was following) and when he "took off" there was a small cloud (more like a little puff) of dark smoke, Ive never noticed it before has anyone else ever seen this or had it happen b4 ? or know of a way to fix it ... Because he is FREAKING OUT .."Time to trade it in" I knew i should have kept my mouth shut Anyone that has any ideas im all ears !!!! I dont want to be S-less !!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Car was probably running rich due to WOT.

Every S2000 does this. It's perfectly normal. Yeah, it's from the richness of the air/fuel mixture. There significant amounts of this smoke during a shift at redline. If you watch dynos, you can sometimes see it when the car finishes its run (depending on the car's tuning of course.)

u can also check your fuel filter...it might be due to replace a new one...should replace or it could fuk up your fuel pump which costs quite hefty

What does a fuel filter have to do with the car running rich, building up carbon in the exhaust system and subsequently getting blown out the tail pipe at WOT? Please explain. I'm willing to learn something new.
