Default DC header install notes and impressions.....

INSTALL The install isnt tough. Expect to possibly go to the hardware store for nuts and bolts. I broke one of the bolts that holds the stock header to the cat and needed a nut and bolt for the brace that holds the header to the firewall. It took me about two hours including a few beer breaks. The one hard to get at bolt that holds the black heat shield on gave me trouble until I figured out that the bolt doesnt go into a hole in the heatshield. Its just a slot so once you get the other bolts off the heatshield will pull up and out. The stock header goes out through the bottom the DC goes in through the top. Put a towel over the valve cover so you dont scratch it like I did. Wiggle the DC around until it falls in. Thats about it for the hard stuff. The rest is easy. I reinstalled the black heatshield even though some people say its fine without it. Only takes a couple of minutes to put it back on and provides protection to the brake line or whatever that runs right next to it.

Impressions I think this header is well worth the money. My car feels much faster from 3krpm on up. You can't feel the v-tec kick as much but the extra power down low makes it worth it. It was hot here today and the car drove like it does when its cool out. I am very pleased with it. The sound didn't change at all.

*lol* Dude! you had the same frustrations I did! I had to jack up the car WAAAY up to get the stock header out. A large floor jack and a Houston phone book.

I wrote a few posts about this before, and usually warn the people I sell these things to about the issues. I'm glad you survived though. The spring bolt needs to be doused with WD40 for a few days before the install. I broke mine and rigged up a replacement until I could get the real replacement from Honda. The black shield bolt in the rear - definately a PITA if you dont' know (like I didn't at the time) that it doesn't need to come all the way out.

10 lb reduction, somewhat of a powergain - maybe psychological. I vouch for the install as a well build cheap[er] header.

I love mine also. I got the heads up from schatten on the shield. I went from the bottom on removal and install.

I have the RM Racing dual exhaust also. My car sounds like a real performance car.

The exhaust and aem cai, noise levels counter each other, so ther is nice rrrrrrrrrroaaaaaaaaar all the wat through now.

The header is totally worth the money. I had the aem/header/exhaust dyno'd with 4725 on my car, 200.6 rwhp, 140.6 ftlb. small torque and power increase across the board, with weight loss=acceleration!

Does the DC Header come with a Heat shield?
Also does the black shield panel protecting the battery still fit?

Did you guys un-bolt the engine mount and raise the engine
to get the DC header in?

I was told that was necessary!!!
And, that's the reason my header is still in a box in my garage!!!

MajorHavoc - nope, didn't do that. I just had to get the big floorjack and then put a Houston phone book inbetween that and the car to get it high enough to remove the stock header.

Also, the DC header does not come with a heat shield, nor does it have mounting holes to retain the stock heat shields (2).

I had mine JetHot coated and just retained the black shield and it seems to work well.
