Default in desperate need of a crank pulley tool :(

i hate to post something just to point at another post, but i'm in a bind here:

http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=173110

i thought it wise to post here as well since all the tech heads might not visit the for sale board. in any case, a friend of mine and i tried to do a SC install yesterday and couldn't remove the crank pulley with all the methods we tried. now i'm at the mercy of ordering one and waiting for it to arrive or possibly relying on the graciousness of one of you to allow me to borrow your tool for a day.

of course, none of you know me all that well so i can understand if you don't want to part with the tool to a stranger, but you may also see me around the boards trying to help others enough that you might know that i'm a good guy. i thought if i pay you via paypal $20 to 2 day it (or overnight it if it's enough), that it may put a few bucks in your pocket as well. as soon as marty and i finish, it would be in the mail right back to you next day. otherwise, i'd pay you the cost of the tool.

any takers?

I was in the same bind as you. I ended up ordering the Moroso tool from my local Car Parts store. they had it in the store next day for me. It was ~$95 I believe. it stinks to spend $ when you know at least one member can lend you it, but that one person never sees your thread! I think I sold mine for $60 after using it the one time g'luck!

yep. that's what i'm done, bro. i've already ordered the tool from a place that i saw online that had it. i plan to sell it when i'm finished to gain some of the loss back.

problem is ... i haven't talked to them in person yet to know if they actually have it there or how fast they can get it, and i'd rather line the pockets with someone on the boards here that have done so much to help me out with a few bucks than a stranger at a parts store.

wortham,

I used a large hex nut along with a pipe wrench and a three foot pipe extension (same for the breaker bar). Came off very easily.

You can borrow the hex nut if you want to give that method a try.

Let me know.

we did try to hit up a few nut and bolt places for something like that, bro, but they were all closed. after all the lack of success we had with make shift tools, i'm at the point where i'd just rather have the real deal and finish the project.

and i'd have to find a pipe and a pipe wrench to boot. (i think i'm getting lazy in my old age )

Wortham,

See my excellent and exceedingly humble summary on how to do this in http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=173243

You're on the right track, just in the wrong part of the store.

All the best.

Jim
