Default Diff drain bolt pics

So I changed my fluids today. I went with the GM synthetic tranny fluid, mobile 1 diff fluid (75w-90) and castrol fully synthetic (engine)

The guy I got the car from said "ALL the recommended maintenance had been performed on the vehicle". So I am wondering if by the looks of the diff drain bolt you would agree with that statement or not.

I guess the one picture would have been better taken from the side but oh well. It was pretty well gunked if you look closely.

I was more like gunk full of fine metal shavings all stuck to the magnet. With that much on there it leads me to believe that it was never changed at 30k like the dealer recommends.

The first picture looks just the bolt from my car when I did the first diff. oil change @ 15K miles. I've since changed it every 15K and there is hardly anything on the magnet. Maybe just the finest layer of silt but nothing like I saw on at the first change. The oil that came out the first time was very black. The oil I drain out now looks just like the stuff I put in - Mobil 1 ..

That looks like a first drain or at least a very long drain interval. You should say how many miles on your car.

OH SORRY... I forgot the mileage!

The car has 38k miles on it. I just dont believe it was changed at 30k miles and accumulated that much gunk in 8k miles

That's look more like 20K to 25K worth of "gunk" but this depends on how the car was driven.
