Tell me xviper or anyone else. Is my car in real danger rolling around for another week or two with this mobile 1 in it or will I be ok until I can get a hold of this synchromesh? Regardless, it's getting changed.
The yellow metals of your syncros started to get eaten up as soon as the GL-5 touched them. They'll go even faster as you use the car. I'd get that stuff out ASAP and put in Honda MTF - TWICE. Change it once, idle in neutral with the clutch out for a few minutes, dump it and change again. However, it's your car and you are the one taking the chances.

I tried my GM dealer yesterday. I figured since they did all the Corvette Z06 stuff that they would have the best fluid around. He told me he hadn't even heard of GM Synchromesh Friction Modified.
It is used for certain light truck transmissions. NV1500, if I recall correctly. Some GM dealers have it in stock, others have never heard of it. Tell that to your dealer, or try another dealer.

Or just use Honda MTF.

Is this what we're all talking about so much?

Forgive me for being so basic but I want to be absolutely sure. I found it at my Caddy dealer.

Looks like the right stuff. And I think that's the right part number. Does it say anywhere that it is for NV1500 transmissions?

It says "GM SYNCHROMESH TRANSMISSION FLUID is a semi-synthetic lubricant for use in 1500 transmissions. It is highly friction modified to reduce transmission component wear."

Alright...In it goes, thanks for the help mike and xviper. Otherwise my car would have been another victim of poor maintenance. I also have the LE 607 Almasol on the way. I will spare no expense.
