To make a long story short keenan honda replaced my differential turns out it was the cv joint, three weeks after i get the cv joint replaced the differential blows up.(Housing and all)

Honda wont replace the differential so i the list of parts that i would need to rebuild the differential. Basically so i can get a cost estimate.

keep in mind, that you're better off finding a used or buying an already put together diff. buying all the parts and putting it together yourself isn't exactly an easy task. also, the honda dealer wouldn't be able to really do it either, considering most dealerships will just swap complete diffs, not rebuild the diff with other diff parts.

 

Well basically the dealership said they will pay for labor but not parts(as a deal ) considering labor is free for them and they will be making money on parts.

Unfortunately, and I'll repeat this again, I would not trust hardly any honda dealership to take an entire diff and build it with pieces. The S2000 diff is something that VERY FEW honda techs are going to kno how to do, and if they do it wrong, you're going to end up with another destroyed diff, and right back where you started, but with a skinnier wallet. Putting an S2000 diff together is nothing like what the normal techs go through every day. It's something you need to have done by someone who has EXPERIENCE with diff building, preferably with the S2000 diff.

You can buy a completely assembled diff (new or used), and then just pay them the $150 it should cost to put it in. Even that's too much IMO, as a good mechanic can pull the diff and swap it out in under an hour.


Also, if it's a dealership that is putting this together, then why did you need a parts list, since they have the same Helms manual I do that shows what parts are needed??

I will give you a 4.10 gear set. We toss them after we install the 4.57 gears. What EXACTLY happed to your diff? What is broken? In parts, the whole diff is over 3500, and a complete diff is 3500 (list), You can buy a used diff for about 1000 (I'd sell one for that) So carefully consider your options.

 

Im not sure basically the dealership made me an offer saying that they would pay for labor if i covered parts. Which is complete bullshit and they are trying to screw me over completely. Any way im getting the car towed to my house then im going to take it to a mechanic i know. Once he tells me what i need ill let you know. All that i know is that its not just the gears. They told me the pinion cap broke?
