Differential bearing caps
There used to be pics of the ap2 caps compared to Comptech posted someplace in s2ki. You'd probably have to do some searching to find it.
But hands down the Comptech is stronger than the ap2. If you see the amount of metal added to strengthen the ap2 caps, you'd laugh.
Good luck on finding Comptech caps though. You might be able to order some, but then wait 6 months to get them.
Puddy's are the strongest of all...and better made.

Did we all forget about the FAQ sticky thread at the top of this forum??
Lots of good stuff in there, like...
MY01, MY04 and CompTech diffs, Photos showing the differance

I have actually seen that and have it bookmarked. Thanks for the replies.
I could see the difference just did not know if that method of adding a hunk of metal was actually stronger than recasting a new design.
I wanted to get this done before a supercharger, but might not be able to resist temptation of going SC and do this down the road.

From what I understand, from the CT engineer that designed it, it is a common pratice to do on motors for old Hot Rod guys. It was a way to reinforce the bearing caps in the motor as they increased the power to keep them together.
S2KPUDDYDAD takes it one step futher and adds more metal with a tighter contact area. By far the strongest mod for the S2000 rear available.

Back in the day
Hot Roders would use a couple heavy screws through the rear cover of the differential housing. The screws would set on top of the bearing caps to keep them from being blown out. It was crud but it worked

Yes I searched.
Anybody have any diffinitive proof which are stronger?
I like the puddymod but don't want to spend $1k.

I thought that was the price for his bearing caps as posted on HTG's site when you buy gears.
honestly man, save up for it and get it... my diff blew out of no where so i had to get it back on asap. im running the comptech with 4.56 gears. if i had a lil time to save up for it, the puddy is DEFINATELY worth the grand.
you sleep alot better at night knowing it wont break, rather then hoping it wont.
