Did the diff fluid change yesterday. Once you get the bolts undone, its a piece of cake. The hardest part was getting the fill bolt off. Not enough clearance to get your socket wrench or torque wrench in there. I ended up getting a 15/16 wrench to loosen and then to tighten. I tightened it pretty good so I think I'll be safe without torquing. I'll keep an eye on it and make sure it isn't leaking.

I did use the entire bottle of Mobil 1 though. Is there a danger in 'overfilling' the diff with fluid? Nothing spilled out, except maybe a drop or two.

does the car need to be lifted level? or can you just jack one side of the car?

Probably best to make it level to make sure the old fluid drains properly and the right amount of the new fluid goes in.

The best way to fill a diff is with weight on wheels. But since our car is so low, most of us have to lift it...a pit would be nice though.

If you lift the car, try to get it level so you can add the proper amount. Overfilling anything with lubricants will more than likely cause foaming (foam doesn't lubricate very well) or seal leaks and vent sprays.

Just lift it level and fill it until the fluid starts coming back out of the fill hole. When it stops draining, put the plug and washer back in.
