So I was driving hard on my way home from getting something to eat and after redlining 2nd gear and putting it into 3rd I heard a noise coming from my rear which I later jacked up and found out the noise was coming from the diff.

I can still drive the car but right now it's in the garage about to have the diff dropped out and opened. My question is what part goes out first in the differential?

I want to put a kia sportage 4.77 final drive instead of another stock, but I also don't want this to happen again so what do I need to upgrade?
