differential on the outs?
Driving around last week I noticed a noise on the passenger rear side of the car like a rubbing/squeaky sound. I got home pulled the wheel inspected the rear brakes, they were looking pretty beat so I changed them. The rear rotors haven't been changed since I got the car in 2006 so I changed them as well. Drove the car around the sound was gone problem solved.
This morning I drive the car to the supermarket and back as I'm looking for a parking spot in 2nd gear and slowing down I hear the rubbing sound again as pronounced as ever and try to replicate it. So what I have come up with is under throttle I either can not hear the noise or it is not there. But while I am in gear and slowing down (I only tried 2nd and 3rd gear) There is an obvious rubbing squeaking sound coming from the rear of the car. If the car is not in gear the sound is still there but it is much lower and not as noticable.
This is a video of a blown differential and my noise doesn't sound like this. So I'm wondering if my differential is just getting ready to break.
