Default difficult shift

I noticed a thread re transmission issues ie popping out of gear ,my problem is shifting into second,I encounter difficulty shifting from 1st to second ,get a grinding ,its worse when cold and seems to disappear when warm.Dealer has checked it out and denies any issues .Does this sound like an issue with synchros or is this common

I'm assuming the car is relatively new to you since it is an 04 and you are new to S2ki. The grinding when shifting 1-2 is common if you are shifting very quickly at high rpm. The grinding sound/feeling is the synchros trying to do their job. If you continue trying to quickly shift 1-2 at high rpm, the synchros get chewed up. The previous owner may have already wrecked the synchros for you. Change the trans and clutch fluid and make sure the clutch pedal is adjusted properly. There is alot of info on S2ki about this problem. Search around a little and you will find what you need to know.

I had the same issue - I replaced the clutch fluid with the ATE super blue and the popping and grinding noise stopped. You might be interested in re greasing the shifter as well with Super hi temp UREA grease.

the thing that helped mine the most after chasing this problem for years was regreasing the shifter ball.
