I just did this a few days ago. The rear passenger took FOREVER! Littleraly at least an hour. Then I opened the valve a little more and it finished within another half hour. Got back into the car and the pedal was brick like. Until I turned on the car, then it softened a bit. It was definitely firmer than I remember. But then again, I don't believe the S has had the Luis change in at least 70K miles.

I felt mine soften too, so I tried Billman's overnight pedal trick... wedge a board or something of the right length (we used a toilet plunger handle) such that the brake pedal is firmly pressed in and then leave it sitting overnight. Be sure to pull the fuse for the brake lights or disconnect your battery. The next day my pedal was brick-like again and has stayed that way ever since.
