Default Do I need to retune?

Hey guys, hope every one of you is having a great weekend. I recently have had some complaints from my neighbors about the black residue that spits out of my Berk 3" headerback exhaust onto their car's license plate and parking floor. I have no other choice but to park my car outside but I don't want to risk having my car vandalized. I am n/a tuned with a AEM EMS v.2 If I get a oem ap1 exhaust with a test pipe can this potentially solve my issue or do I need a catback? Would I have to retune my car as well?
.

Most of it is going to be from the tune (assuming it is tuned on the rich side) and the lack of a catalytic converter (assuming you have a TP). You could try a Berk HFC or something similar to slow down the pollution splurge coming out. I have a 70mm TP and 70mm Single exhaust and i get the same shit on my rear bumper. Comes off with some elbow grease though.

If the car is running good, i wouldnt touch the tune. Try throwing a cat or HFC on there first.

I visited the Berk technology website and they do have an option that can integrate a oem catalytic converter with the headerback exhaust..but with a cat comes power restrictions. Might go with a high-flow cat.

Since you said ap1, it will probably have blow by, most ap1's burn oil in Vtec and I'm sure it gets worse when you add a better flowing exhaust and test pipe, mine always has black residue on the pipes after a hard drive, I wouldn't think the tune would make your car produce more black residue, Do you check your oil frequently? Is it ever low at times?

I burn about 1/4 of a quart every 1,000 miles. I only see the black residue as a result of morning startups. It's not on around my pipes or car just on the floor behind my exhaust. I'm trying to eliminate that right now.

Hahaha I know. I might just trade my exhaust for an oem ap1 stock with cat.

I went back to stock. Got a low mileage system including cat for around 150$. Most will practically give them away because they take up so much room.

Just try adding a high flow cat. Berk custom made one for me and for the sake of tunes, My HFC and test pipe did the same numbers on the dyno (both about 15whp over stock cat) so I left the HFC on there. Still get black crap on the bumper but it never spits anything or smokes unless in full boost up top.
